Tutorial Tuesday at LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog

I am so excited to have my tutorial up on the LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog today!  I hope you will go by and visit and leave a comment so we can know you stopped by!  I am sharing my Anubus Bust artist trading coin.  I am loving these coins so much and waiting for my 2 1/2 inch paper punch to come in so that I can create a lot more of them 😊.

Artist trading coins are 2 1/2 inches (hence the wait for the right paper punch!) and are used the same way as artist trading cards.  I am finding them more difficult to create than the cards just because of the smaller area that is available to work with.   This also makes them such fun!

The fabtastic image Anubus Bust by LeighSBDesigns is a definite must have before the all important Halloween season arrives!  Researching Anubus will give you tons of inspiration on projects to make the ghouls scream with delight and fright!

Happy Half-O-Ween with the God of the Dead!

The sounds of the ages before and after float hauntingly over the fabulous Anubis!  God of the Dead until he was replaced in the Middle Kingdom by Osiris, he assumes many roles in the death process as he rules over his subjects.  Protector of the deceased and their tombs as well as associating himself with the mummifications process!   All done while holding himself regally above all of life and its subjects!  This fabulous Anubis is brilliantly given life by LeighSBDesigns especially for the half way mark to our most favorite holiday or as we call it, Half-O-Ween!  Yes, Half-O-Ween signifies only six more months until Halloween!  And we all are always ready for that!  So welcome and enjoy and participate in the LeighSBDesigns Half-O-Ween Blog Hop!

With some words from the Book of the Dead, nighttime reading for this dear fellow, he lives among the smoke and rubble of the history of the Egyptian Gods.  You can find him in all his glory at LeighSBDesigns Boutique ready to come celebrate Half-OWeen with you and your crafting goodies!

Hope to blog hop to your blog as you join in the fun with the:

It's Monochromatic Time at Ike's World Challenge

Welcome and I hope your May is going along swimmingly!  At Ike's World Challenges we are going into monochromatic or all hues of one shade...no pops of another color allowed OR Anything Goes for #108 :)   I am using the oh so lovely Angel #5 and I have colored her up and put her into a fold up card all in pinks.  Also there is a Birthday Sale going on at Ike's Art with 50% off on images taken at the register!  Shop HERE!

Using a template for the folding card from Stampington Magazine, I cut two of them out of the outside paper and the inside paper.  A tiny cloud and sun and the word "Believe" give a hint of what is on the inside.

I attached my colored image on white cardstock to the middle of the card.  Before attaching anything to front or inside I inked all edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

I think this will be a lovely graduation card or just a pick me up card for someone special.  Now we want to see your creations for May!  Inspire us!

Janette's Monthly Challenge at Dragons Lair Designs!

This kit makes me smile with sunshine when I am playing with it!  That's a pretty cool thing to be able to say about a kit that is sooo inexpensive PLUS Janette is giving away a Freebie addition to the kit on the Dragons Lair Inspiration Blog!!  How cool is that?  Here is my latest (I am addicted to this) play with the fabulous Citrus kit!

I am making a digital scrapbook of our latest trip to Japan and this kit is working out so well!  I added two photos of my son as photographer and observing the customs of the temple at Ueno Park.

Why not run to the Dragons Lair Inspiration Blog HERE and grab the freebie and then run, well, you may walk if holding scissors! to the Dragons Lair Designs Etsy Store and buy the mini kit "Citrus".  Then create away!  Remember if digital play is not your thing, then these kits make wonderful elements to print out and cut to make cards...anything you want!

And here is my first fun page with this kit :)

Midway Post for Ike's World Challenge Spring Inspiration Photo for April

Hi all!  I am back and delighted to be attempting to catch up on almost ten weeks of recuperating from a fall down the stairs.  My arm is healing nicely in all the broken parts :)  Now for Ike's World Challenge for April using a Spring Inspiration Photo!  I had so much fun working on this; it was nice to be inking and coloring up again!

Some background papers in soft pink and background stamps in green ink with some butterflies made a nice home for the pocket to hold my seed packets.  The Seed images from Ike's Art were colored with Touch New Markers and inked with Distress Inks.  A twine box in green made the last touch. Oh the gorgeous green background paper is a digital paper from Dragons Lair Designs that I printed out and is called Watercolor Papers set.

Dragons Lair Designs Facebook Coloring Challenge and Mini Kit Challenge for April!

Wow!  We had an awesome number of fabulous entries for last month's extended (due to my fall oops!) challenge but the extra time was spent ohh and ahhing over the awesomeness!  Now we have some dragon love and fairy love mixed together for April!   We are using Penny's Discovery from Dragons Lair Designs and what a cutie it is!

I colored up Penny and her friend with Touchnew Markers and fussy cut.  Then I printed out my layout from Girls Rule World and glued the image inside the circle.  I would have rather cut my layout out but scissors and cutting aggravate my arm so I took a short cut!

Girlz World Mini kit is the kit we are using with Janette's Freebie for April to play along with for the challenge she has going!  Click HERE to jump there and see all the details!  The kit is gorgeously rich in colors and yummy as ice cream to work with so beware!

April Progressive Challenge at Ike's Art Fan Page!

The image Ike so nicely gave us is the most charming little fairy I have seen!  Plump little legs and arms she is drawn delightfully!   The Facebook page for Ike's fans is a fun place to hang out and there is always something to do!  So go join if you haven't and get in on April's cutie!  It is not too late!

I made a simple journal page using the remains of a die cut flower sheet as a stencil to ink through with Distress Inks.  The lightly went over the white negative space with Wild Honey.  The image I colored with Prisma colored pencils and printed out that awesome quote by Monet (whom I am obsessed with right now!) was created in Photoshop CC.

As always we hope you have joined the Facebook group and of course the two fabulous challenges of Ike's which the linkies are right below so click on and start playing!

Starting the New Year with Ike's World Challenge Design Team!

First, I am so happy and excited to be back with Ike at Ike's World Challenge as a design team member again!  I always have loved her images and now having it on my list of to do's every month, I can't get caught up with other things and not play with her fabulous images!

Secondly, I know this may not look like it fits challenge #104 What's New with You (New Year, New Stuff, etc.).  But as I was looking for an image I saw this one, the first time I had seen it and thought now Dorian Gray had his mirror and when a new year rolled around that reflection got older not gorgeous Dorian!  So my fabulously young and vibrant temptress looking over her shoulder while her reflection had grown a year older made me think. Yup me thinking always scary!  Out with the old her and in with her stunning self!  And of course a bottle of......well, let's just say it is not Revlon! and her first sip of the year she got her new year off to a roaring start!  And we all know I love Halloween so I thought we have Half-of-ween in May, might as well have a First Halloween or perhaps New Halloween year start in January!   There it is my reasoning behind this image.  I love her but I cover my mirrors up! 😁

Colored with Spectrum Noir markers and an attempt to lighten up her hair with a white and blue gel pen (dubious at best!) and then after coloring her older self I used a very light blue for the mirror and then used Golden Gloss Medium to give it a shine.  I also gave the little bit of her serum a coat of gloss along with the little bit that she hasn't wiped off her lips and her penetrating blue eyes.  I attached the image to a piece of cardstock that I keep by my acrylic painting spot and I always wipe up every bit of that yummy color and make my own papers.  Sentiment was a stressful time that I can only say these words about.  Photoshop Elements 15 and Adobe Support.  Nuff said about that!

Come play with us!  You can see my teamies really sweet and awesome interpretations of the theme.  So show us what YOUR thoughts are on the subject!  As you can see the minds work in many diverse directions on these things!

Time for the Poe Blog Hop by LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Post and to See the Last Page of the Fat Page Book!

Finally, my last page of my fat page book containing all but three of the new releases by LeighSBDesigns for the Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Blog Hop being held at the LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog!  I look forward to adding more pages as more spectacular digital images by Leigh are added to the Etsy Boutique!  Here we go with the images Edgar Allan Poe Portrait and Signature!

I only colored his eyes and tie as I wanted a vintage type look for this page.  Paper from the same paper pad with a strip of really cool vinyl type lace tape along the bottom that I bought in Japan for a dollar!  I stamped R.I.P. from my Halloween stamp stash with permanent black ink and used a tiny frame found hiding in my stash.  I also stamped all edges with black Distress Ink.

If you haven't read the background story of Poe's actual life I encourage to do so.  He is famous now but never knew but few moments of fame when he lived and suffered so many deaths of those he loved in his short 40 years of life. Really interesting things!  Also if you get a chance to watch "The Raven" with John Cusack playing Poe, go for it!  It is a fictional tale of what might have caused Poe's death which to this date has never been really solved just guessed at by even the doctor's who were there when he died!

A hint with this link to the YouTube movie trailer HERE!

Hope you are enjoying the blog hop and leaving some Poe love to all!

Page Five of the Poe Fat Page Book for the Blog Hop!

This page for me had to be added when I found a quote from Poe's poem "Alone".  It definitely described Poe and his childhood and the things that pointed him toward his art which was the invention of the detective fiction genre in America.  Of course this is being entered in the 3rd Annual Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Blog Hop hosted by LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog!  And LeighSBDesigns Etsy Boutique is full of new digital stamps of Poe and all things Poe that are very unique and fab!

The Oddleigh Raven is part of the Oddleigh Poe and Raven setThis time he stands alone atop the poem by the same name that I typed up from a web site full of Poe's quotes and memorable lines of his works.  The same paper pad and everything inked with Distress Ink and stamped with odds of stamps with red and brown inks.  The awesome lace is actually vinyl and I bought it in Japan for a dollar!  Colored him up with Spectrum Noir markers and glued it all down!

Keep on hopping and keep on leaving nice comments!  It makes blogging so much more worth it and fun for all of us!

Poe Blog Hop at LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog!

I think I could play with Poe makes for weeks, months, years? Yup, I could!  The 3rd Annual Edgar Allan Poe Appreciation Blog Hop is going on and today I am sharing another wonderful digital stamp by LeighSBDesigns who has tons of new Poe images that are unique and exciting and some are on sale right now!  The link up for your Poe project is at the LeighSBDesigns Inspiration Blog!

I used Oddleigh Poe from the Oddleigh Poe and Raven set. Again using paper from the 6 x 6 paper pad and inking with black Distress Ink.  I also used the image Poe Signature with Quill all found at the LeighSBDesigns Etsy Boutique!  I used Spectrum Noir to color up Poe and the quill feather. I typed text and inked in red because it was about his love of his real wife so red for hearts.  Another gothic looking black die cut flower and leaf with gold flakes glued on top with a bead for a center.

Keep hopping and inking!  Poe needs some appreciation; he pretty much had a lot of really bad days!
